After a Saturday alone with my Nut Snack and books, I headed out to meet fellow composer/performer and PhD student at UCSD Jeffrey Trevino for dinner and a tour of Neukölln. Jeffrey has been living here in Berlin for the last year studying German and performing/composing.
Trevino at Dumpling Cafe
After appetizers (vegan dumplings at the FANTASTIC Dumpling Cafe), we moved on to falafel and beverages in Neukölln
Trevino at Fuchs und Elster
Decorated like a house and lit with candles, Fuchs und Elster is a great place to chill and have a bier.

There we moved onto Kuschlowski, specializing in vodka...great vodka selection, and always comes with these miniature Barbie Doll sandwiches...that are tasty!

Ending the night at Ä. The story goes that when the owners took over the building, all the letters from the previous owner's business sign were inside. The only functioning letter was the "Ä," and so the pub was named...

We ended the night with a delicious falafel sandwich around 2am. Only a euro for this filling meal. I love Berlin!
Studying at the Cafe with Phil
Sunday, Phil and I hit the books (a daily event), but decided to study at cafes, walk, study at a cafe, walk, cafe, walk...et cetera. By late afternoon, we'd gone from Bundesplatz to the Embassies, Tiergarten, Siegessäule and the Zoologischer Garten. And read works by Foucault, Richard King, Michael Kessler...a productive and fun day.
